At Lighthouse of Hope we celebrate the freedom we have in worshiping the LORD. We worship in a Biblical style, which, according to the following Scriptures, means we have the freedom to:

Stand as we sing:

2 Chronicles 20:19 “The Levites stood up to praise the Lord God of Israel, with a very loud voice.”

Clap our hands:

Psalm 47:1 “O clap your hands, all peoples; shout to God with voices of joy.”

Lift our hands:

Psalm 63:4 “So I will bless You as long as I live; I will lift up my hands in Your Name.”

Psalm 134:2 “Lift up your hands in the sanctuary and bless the Lord.”

1 Timothy 2:8 “Therefore I want people in every place to pray, lifting up holy hands, without wrath and dissension.”

Encourage audible praise unto God:

Psalm 34:1 “I will bless the Lord at all times; His praise shall continually be in my mouth.”

Acts 4:24 “And when they heard this, they lifted their voices to God in one accord.”

Sing choruses as well as hymns:

Ephesians 5:18-19 “And do not get drunk with wine, for that is dissipation, but be filled with the Spirit, speaking to one another in Psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with thankfulness in your hearts to God.”

Believe in prophesying:

1 Corinthians 12:7 “But to each one is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good‚ and to another prophecy.”

1 Corinthians 14:1 “Pursue love, yet desire spiritual gifts, but especially that you may prophecy.”

1 Corinthians 14:3 “But one who prophesies speaks to others for edification and exhortation and consolation.”

1 Corinthians 14:31 “For you can all prophesy one by one, so that all learn and all may be exhorted.”

Anticipate speaking in tongues and the interpretation of tongues:

1 Corinthians 12:7, 10 “But to each is given the manifestation of the Spirit for the common good and to another various kinds of tongues, and to another the interpretation of tongues.”

1 Corinthians 14:27 “If anyone speaks in a tongue, it should be by two or at the most three, and each in turn, and one must interpret.”

1 Corinthians 14:39 “Therefore, my brethren, desire earnestly to prophesy, and do not forbid to speak in tongues.”

Use musical instruments as part of our praise and worship:

Psalm 150:3-5 “Praise Him with trumpet sound; praise Him with the harp and lyre. Praise Him with tambourines and dancing; praise Him with stringed instruments and pipe. Praise Him with loud cymbals; praise Him with resounding cymbals.”

Sing ”The Song of the Lord”:

"The Song of the Lord” is when God’s people break into spontaneous praise from a place deep in their hearts, singing and speaking directly to the Lord the glory and honour due to His Name.

Revelation 19:6-7 “Then I heard again what sounded like the shout of a vast crowd or the roar of mighty ocean waves or the crash of loud thunder: Praise the Lord! For the Lord our God, the Almighty reigns. Let us be glad and rejoice and let us give honour to Him.”

Why do we worship like this?

John 4:23-24 “But an hour is coming, and now is, when the true worshippers will worship the Father in spirit and truth; for such people the Father seeks to be His worshipers. God is Spirit, and those who worship Him must worship Him in Spirit and Truth.”
